In 1598, as the Imjin War nears its end, the Japanese army attempts a massive retreat from Korea by sea. Off the coast of Noryang, Admiral Yi Sun-sin leads the Joseon navy to intercept the fleeing Japanese fleet in a decisive battle. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Yi’s forces hold the line with courage and determination. During the fierce clash, Admiral Yi is mortally wounded by a shot. Honoring his final command to keep his death a secret, his men continue the fight. Guided by Yi’s nephew and the remaining commanders, the Joseon navy delivers a crushing victory, driving the Japanese from Korean waters.
