Chuncheon City recently held an industry-academia-government collaboration forum alongside leading VFX (Visual Effects) companies, including M83 Co., regional universities, and specialized high schools. This event marks the first official gathering following the Memorandum of Understanding signed last November between Chuncheon City and M83, and took place at M83’s headquarters in Seoul.
Key participants included Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Dong-han, M83 CEO Jeong Sung-jin, Mortarheadd CEO Noh Geuk-tae, SPMC CEO Yoon Ra-ul, as well as representatives from The Pict, Keytech, Itta Company, Kangwon National University, Kangwon Animation High School, and Hallym Seongsim University. The forum focused on strategies to link Chuncheon’s Urban Regeneration Innovation District with the VFX sector, create youth employment opportunities, and advance local business development. Notably, Chuncheon City announced its commitment to foster a VFX-centered visual industry by integrating the advanced media sector with urban regeneration projects, including the Camp Page site.
Kangwon National University is preparing to establish a new department dedicated to VFX, while both Kangwon Animation High School and Hallym Seongsim University are concentrating on training talent in advanced visual content production. Through this forum, the city reaffirmed its plan to enhance various educational and collaborative initiatives, aspiring to establish itself as a hub for VFX-driven visual industries.
