DE-AGING / RE-AGING

Facial Anatomy Tracking

We capture an actor’s facial expressions, wrinkles, and micro-muscle movements using digital scan and tracking techniques. The process begins not with mechanical age reduction, but with precise observation to preserve the emotional depth of the original performance.

Skin Deformation & Texture Aging

Our focus is on authentically recreating the subtle characteristics of aged skin. We build age-specific texture datasets—covering density, pores, gloss, and elasticity—and refine them using AI-assisted tools and hand-paint techniques to achieve natural-looking skin aging.

Lighting & Re-integration

We match the de-aged face seamlessly with the original lighting environment, adjusting direction, shadow, and reflections. Mortarheadd ensures that in the final composite, the altered face isn’t just visible—it’s believable within the scene.

Concept & Anatomy Design

Each creature must function as a living organism. We begin with ecological logic, anatomical structure, and muscle flow—laying the groundwork for rigging and simulation based on an internal biological system.

Lookdev & Surface Detail

From skin texture and scar depth to moisture and sheen—every element is meticulously controlled down to the pixel to create a hyperrealistic surface that exceeds mere realism.

FX & Performance Integration

Convincing creature performance requires the harmony of acting, muscle motion, and physical response. Mortarheadd integrates FX, animation, and lighting to deliver seamless, organic movement on screen.

ENVIRONMENT CREATION

Spatial Design & Layout

We begin with architectural structure and camera movement in mind, crafting digital environments that feel grounded in reality—but exist only through design. These locations are structured to support narrative flow and cinematic composition.

Asset & Texture Development

Buildings, terrain, vegetation, and set details are built modularly and textured with care. From worn bricks on a wall to dusty rooftops and even the smallest street sign, we construct immersive environments grounded in story-specific realism.

Lighting & Atmospheric Integration

By adjusting light direction, particulate density, and atmospheric depth, we ensure seamless integration between CG and live-action footage. Mortarheadd designs the overall mood of a scene, crafting spaces that hold visual weight within the lens.

Lighting

Responsible for delivering visual impact through lighting and color grading of characters and environments in digital scenes, aligned with the creative direction.

Responsibilities
– Sequence & Shot lighting Set-up
– Rendering & Pre-comp

Qualifications
– 5+ years of professional experience
– Proficiency in Maya, Arnold, and lighting-related tools
– Strong understanding of LookDev, render AOVs, and pre-comp workflows
– Excellent collaboration and communication skills with internal and cross-functional teams

Preferred
– Experience with pre-compositing using Nuke or After Effects
– Familiarity with Animation and FX pipeline collaboration

Combine a variety of visual effects to create realistic and imaginative visuals, enhancing the overall sense of depth and vitality in the footage.

IMMERSIVE LAB
